In 2011, I founded a parody newspaper for parents called The Upper West Side Parenteer (later shortened to simply The Parenteer). I wrote (using fake names), and designed sixteen 12-page issues. 8,000 copies, per issue, were printed and distributed in the Upper West Side. Eventually, I ceased the physical printing and distributing of the paper and now continue to publish online, at theparenteer.com.
The Parenteer has developed a little cult following, and continues to attract the attention of the media and various actors/comedians.
The paper was given exposure via a full page article in the mother’s day (Sunday) issue of The New York Post, as well as being featured on the TODAY show’s website, DNAinfo.com, babycenter.com, The Huffington Post, and various others.
I am currently in talks with various LA-based production entities to bring The Parenteer Show to TV.
The images shown here are issue covers, starting with the most recent (#16) and working backward to Issue #1. The TV spot for the photographer/retoucher, Steve Cronopulous, was something I put together based on a past Parenteer article.
